I have been finding this app quite tedious to use and so decided to give up on it 

and move everything to a new place.

In two weeks' time, I shall be back on the trail. I've been reading my Coast to Coast guidebook, which is a revised edition of AW's original work. It occurred to me that it would be nice to own an older copy, so I went on eBay and have managed to find a 1974 edition for less than a tenner including postage! Looking forward to it arriving.

Day 1 - St Bees Head to Cleator - Saturday 5th April 2025

I had planned on going a little bit further, but my body was protesting against the heat in combination with carrying a heavy pack, so I decided to be sensible and stop for the day. I also was extremely kind to myself and checked into a hotel for the night, where I had a meal, which wasn't great but enough to hit the spot, and currently on my second pint. It will be my last, I am going for a soak in the bath and having an early night. I've seen some fantastic scenery today. St Bees and the coastline northwards is simply stunning.        This is the sign near the beach which signifies the start of walk. Coast to Coast Walk

The Coast to Coast walk I followed, was as defined by Alfred Wainwright , and has been walked by keen hikers many times since he did. The route begins at St Bees, Cumbria and finishes in Robin Hood's Bay, Yorkshire, a total of 192 miles. This is the route. I originally split the walk into two sections, and then into three. Day 2, Cleator to Black Sail Hut

I had heard about the diversions at Dent so decided to take my own alternative route rather than risk getting lost with the diversions. I'm glad I did that because I heard some tales of people climbing over trees and walking miles extra. I walked to Cleator Moor and then onto Ennerdale.  There was a cycling event going on, lots of MIL (men in Lycra) and even a few LIL 😁 Onwards to Ennerdale Bridge where I came across a lovely little cafe called TheGather, where I bought a bacon roll and a couple of tired looking bananas. I was going to eat my roll !by the lake but it was difficult to balance it whilst carrying walking poles and a gurt big backpack, and I saw a sign which said the lake was 1.5 miles! So I sat on...
