This blogspot has been moved to my own personal domain.  I have been finding this app quite tedious to use and so decided to give up on it  and move everything to a new place.   www.lianesoutham.co.uk    Rise and Shine!  What a lovely sight to be greeted with. We had a good night's sleep, although I somehow managed to get a really bad crick in the neck.    We had breakfast of beans, porridge, fruit and flapjacks and of course cups of tea. The stream was fabulous, it was a perfect spot to camp.     I've had a long break from updating my Blog, now I really need to get back to it (Friday 20th June 2025)   So after packing up camp, and having a good check around to make sure we had left no trace, we started back towards the path to continue our walk to Shap. I was particularly looking forward to seeing Shap Abbey.   We walked through a gated wooded area, where the path eluded us occasionally, res...

I drove up to Chorley on Friday after work, and Mark very kindly offered to drive me to Shap so I could pick up where I left off back in April.    I didn't weigh it when it was completely packed but it was somewhere in the region of 12kg. Yes! It was heavy! I'm going to weigh it all properly on the next section. Needless to say I did not wear fliip flops, I wore proper walking boots. Mark dropped me off at the very spot where we zoomed off in an Uber when we were last here. On the way there, Mark came up with a brilliant suggestion. He said he would happily take my camping gear onto the next stop so that I didn't have to carry it. A quick swap over of packs, taking the bare minimum I needed for my...

Getting excited!

This blogspot has been moved to my own personal domain.  I have been finding this app quite tedious to use and so decided to give up on it  and move everything to a new place.   www.lianesoutham.co.uk    In two weeks' time, I shall be back on the trail. I've been reading my Coast to Coast guidebook, which is a revised edition of AW's original work. It occurred to me that it would be nice to own an older copy, so I went on eBay and have managed to find a 1974 edition for less than a tenner including postage! Looking forward to it arriving.

Day 3, Black Sail Hut to Seatoller

This blogspot has been moved to my own personal domain.  I have been finding this app quite tedious to use and so decided to give up on it  and move everything to a new place.   www.lianesoutham.co.uk    The day started in the most beautiful way after a mixed night. It was quite windy when I first went yo bed, but it settled at some point but then my hips felt a bit cold. I wrapped my jacket around them, that did the trick and didn't wake up until after eight!! 😁 Glorious sunshine and blue sky, not a cloud to be seen. Breakfast was porridge, fruit and a cuppa. Waved hello to a fellow walker and had a nice chat with him before he headed off up the steep climb to Fleetwith. Tent all packed up and then off I went. I was absolutely gutted  to find my phone battery had drained and I had brought the wrong lead for the battery pack!  The red flag on the map was my  destination for the day, Seatoller. I kid you not, the slog up that hill with a 10...
